About PDSA

A lifeline for pets for over 100 years

PDSA – turning breaking hearts into beating hearts

At PDSA, saving, protecting and healing pets is what we are all about. We are dedicated to improving pet well-being in three very special ways – by educating owners, preventing disease and carrying out life-saving operations.

Pets are part of the family. Our four-legged friends give unconditional love and are often a person’s only companion – whether it’s a single parent, someone living with a disability or an elderly person. Pets don’t deserve to suffer through economic and social hardship. They can’t help themselves. But we can – with your help.

As the UK’s leading veterinary charity, every year our 48 Pet Hospitals and 380 Pet Practices work tirelessly to treat 470,000 pets, helping more than 300,000 owners.

Yet our work goes beyond caring for pets when they’re sick. We are a leading authority on all things concerning pet well-being: whether it’s leading the debate on pet obesity, conducting Britain’s biggest annual pet well-being survey, raising the status of animals or simply celebrating their contribution to our lives.

Playing the Weekly Lottery means that together we can keep more pets happy and healthy.

Lovable kitten Ralph was rushed to PDSA following a suspected road traffic accident. Our vets were quick to give pain relief and an x-ray which revealed his back leg was broken clean in two. An intricate operation, weekly check-ups and cage rest ensured Ralph was kept as comfortable as possible and on the road to recovery.
